In my last post, I invited you to see the video called Brilliant Compensation. This video fully explains why a network marketing business is the best way to serve many more than you could working for someone else.
Assuming that you agree, here are the 10 steps I used to establish my home-based business:
1.) Determine a business name. This name will be generic enough to serve perhaps more than one aspect of the venture, yet informs the reader of what general business you are in. Check with your local and state governments to see if the name is already being used. If not, you may consider registering the business name, depending on the costs in your locality. If it makes sense to register the business name, do so AFTER you complete Step 2 below.
2.) Register the name as a domain. I use 1&1.com. They have a very competitive domain registration prices (right now .info domains are only $2.99/year) and they have a simple "Instant Mail" package that gives you 5 e-mails and one domain website hosting for just $.99/month!
3.) Now, you'll need a phone number to put on your website and business cards. Do you want to use your current home or cell phone for business calls? If not, then go and get an online voice message and fax program. I use Ring Central because it is accessible on-line, has a professional voice mail box system with multiple boxes (so I can have one box for consumers and another box for business builders), and a fax (in and out) capability. There's a free trial and the rates are only $15 month-to-month.
4.) Now, register for the company of your choice. I've chosen Vemma because I want to help others become healthy and I want to take advantage of the Baby-Boomer trend and the home-based business trend. Vemma, with it's high anti-oxidant and nutritional properties, helps me to serve more of my readers. If you want to start your business in your company name, then you can do this, but also take your business name documents to the bank and open a business account. This way, your company can deposit your checks in the business acount.
5.) Once you are in a company, you will be provided instructions on how to grow your business. While this is helpful, in my opinion, it is up to you to grow your own business. Become a leader in your community to help as many customers and new business owners as you can. If you don't feel confident in this arena, I can highly recommend going to Peak Potentials and sign-up for their FREE Millionaire Mind teleclass. If you like what you hear, I can HIGHLY recommend their Ultimate Leadership Camp!
6.) Now, use your own website URL and redirect it to your company provided website. This way, you won't have a website address that looks like www.companyname.com/123456789. This makes you look like one of many, so why would anyone want to chose you?
By using your own company name as your website address, you will assert yourself as a true business and a committed leader. To redirect, just follow the instructions at your host provider. If you use 1&1, then go to Manage Domains, check the domain name you wish to redirect and click the Destination button. From there, select Edit Destination, select "Forward Your Domain" in the Destination field, enter your company provided website URL in the Forwarding Destination field, click on Frame redirect, and click the OK button. Done!
7.) Now, let's assess where we are. You've got your business name; a business card with your website, e-mail address, phone number, and fax number; a company provided business building website (provided by most companies); but, how do you drive traffic to your website?
Your company tells you to ask your friends and family (and watch your friends and family avoid you like the plague!) and then buy leads at about $3-5 per lead.
I'm going a different route. I can not see spending more money on leads than business I generate. So, I'm using the Internet. You've probably been told to advertise on Google Adwords, right?!? Have you tried that approach? It is not uncommon to spend over $100 a month in Google Adwords, depending on the keywords you use.
Rather than have this advertising expense come out of my pocket, I make money by satisfying a true need first, then use that money to pay for my Google Adwords campaign. Most network marketers would like to learn this approach. It's easy! Just go to Magnetic Sponsoring and take their free 10-day bootcamp. In this bootcamp, an introduction to the process is explained and they sell an inexpensive book (not an e-book) for about $40 and it provides all the details.
This is a fast way to make advertising money. I sold my first book within a day which allowed me to start my Google Adwords campaign!
8.) Now, I'm making advertising money, so I can make a Google Adwords campaign. Where do I advertise? Hold on, you're not quite set yet. Sending people to your company-provided website isn't very compelling. Your conversion rate will be relatively low as you compete with every other distributor in that company. So, don't waste your Google Adwords campaign money there.
Now experts like Joel Comm tell us that we need a content-rich website so that we can attract the right kind of people to us. Following Joel's advice, I use this blog! To set up your FREE blog, go to www.blogger.com, register and start posting content relevant to who you want to serve and who you want in your organization! It's easy and doesn't take programming skills (although learning HTML is helpful, but not necessary).
Use your Google Adwords campaign money to advertise your blog! Advertising money plus rich content means visitors to your site!
9.) Visitors read your blog and are introduced to your company's product and the business opportunity. Those who are attracted to your organization and product may be skeptical about the network marketing industry, though. You were, right? After all, we've heard of terms like pyramid scheme and only the top-level makes money. Well, go to Brilliant Compensation
and get set-up to inform others of the truth about network marketing and working from home. They also have another video called What the Wealthy Buy on Payday which helps to change the mindset of your blog readers.
10.) What's next? Sit back? No! You are now in business! Since you now own your own business, you decide on your work hours. In that timeframe, contact every interested customer or business prospect. Give out advice and serve your community. This includes updating your blog!
Build up your organization. Take the time to educate yourself more in the industry and pass along tips to your organization. Learn from mistakes and teach others to avoid your mistakes. Ask for feedback from your downline. Ask your upline for advice. Your goal is to serve so as to keep customers and your downline. Write a manual or FAQ so that others can get answers to common questions quickly.
After about six months or so, you'll have established a business that can practically run itself on auto pilot. Keep a check on your metrics (growth, attrition, sales, advertising effectiveness, speed of product delivery, etc.) You'll have more free time to do what you like to do, yet keep your income steady or growing.
Let me know what you think. Has this served you well?
